Vocational Training
To address poverty and misuse, we prioritize offering vocational training as a means of sustainable development.
Breaking the Cycle of Poverty and Oppression

In today’s world, self-sustainability, self-dependence and self-reliance are very significant terms. Everyone dreams of becoming something, the dreams to materialize into reality, where one is independent and living the life they want. However, not everyone has that fortune or facilities to fulfill their dreams. A person’s basic needs must be met, but apart from that, one has other needs and wants too for a better livelihood. A nation’s development can also be seen through independent people, choosing their career paths, excelling in their field of career, financial development which ultimately leads to economic development of the whole nation; People are continuously working towards improving their lifestyle and the significance of being self-dependent lies in the necessity of being the same. Being self-sufficient boosts confidence and builds personality, offering a positive outlook in life.

Vocational Training

Rescue and Relief believes in providing the underprivileged and needy with the necessary support to build a life of their own. We deliver an environment that nurtures and hones the skills of the beneficiaries of our various projects. We understand and value the need for being able to earn and make a living on your own; it’s crucial in today’s world and with time it is only increasing. Therefore, Rescue and Relief, through its different projects, is empowering many lives, teaching and aiding them to be self-sufficient as well as live a proper, healthy lifestyle.

We empower our girls to be self-sufficient or independent so that they can not only earn their own bread but also live a life of dignity. Women, in contrary to men, face difficulties in terms of employment or living an independent life. Societal norms refrained women from leading a life where they are self-reliant and do not have to depend on the men, especially financially. Everyone should have the liberty to live freely without being suppressed or oppressed. We aim at making that happen especially for the women and children who are shunned and disowned by the society.

Trafficking Project (Narendrapur)

The girls of our Narendrapur Home are encouraged and empowered to let their skills have a free reign. They are provided with the vocational training of block-printing on sarees, sewing, embroidery and the likes. This not only acts as a self-sustainable approach or a bread-earning method, but also serves as hobbies with therapeutic attributes.

POCSO Project (Tollygunge)

A range of Vocational training is given to our girls at Tollygunge Home which is not only enriching but also enjoyable to them. They are trained in tailoring, file-making, candle-making, fabric painting, jute bag painting, handmade jewelleries, beautician courses, and computer courses as well. This enables them to understand and get better at their skills so that in future they can excel in their line of work.

Rescue and Relief thus provides or creates opportunities for our girls to grow, get empowered and earn a living of dignity for themselves.

Old Age Projects

At our Sason Project, we conduct training programmes fit for both the elderly persons and the children. Vocational training such as Sewing, repairing electronic devices, physiotherapy, nursing, and computer courses are provided. The children are given training in computer courses, and repairing electronic devices such as mobile phones, and other electronics. Some are trained in Sewing, nursing and some in physiotherapy, enabling them to learn and develop various skills while also providing as a means to be self-dependent. The seniors and the children, both enjoy learning and developing new skills as this enriches their knowledge, as well as, a great way to spend time, that serves multiple purposes.

Kolaghat Old Age Home adds a different shade to the palette of vocational training courses. Here our grandparents enjoy making incense sticks to spend their time and also have a source of income. In Old age, the feeling of dependency and helplessness permeate the air; vocational training serves as a source of income, which makes them feel empowered and capable. It also strengthens their overall mental health and well-being.

Other Projects

Our Special Children Project at Baruipur thrives in terms of various vocational training courses. They are taught to create various handmade decorative items from recyclable ones- rice sacks are converted to ropes and floor mats, straws and sticks are transformed into rickshaw pen-stand, Newspaper crafted into Paper roses and wind-chimes, etc. The items can also be purchased and utilized, making their skills and learning, a way to earn on their own. They radiate with immense joy in the process of creating these items, which is also a great entertaining activity for them.

Computer training is given at our Behala Orphanage and almost all the other projects, as we try to keep our beneficiaries updated in this digitized era. At our Behala Orphanage, the boys are given training in Karate as well, and classes are maintained regularly.

Rescue and Relief aims to reach more people who have the drive to be self-sufficient and earn a dignified living on their own, without having to depend on someone else. Vocational Training at every project enables the beneficiaries to discover, learn and develop skills or hone an existing one. It also serves as a source of income making them capable to earn their own bread or make a living on their own in the future. The purpose of Vocational training is also to make them confident, strengthen and encourage them to get out in the real world, overcome the challenges and get by on their own, living a normal, healthy livelihood. It is imperative to make them believe and have faith in themselves, as we do. A changed world is an empowered world where we believe in our vision and work towards the manifestation of the same.
